What Went Wrong With… Rosie O’Donnell?

A caricature of Rosie O'Donnell by What Went Wrong Or Right With...?

The entertainment industry loves to offer up celebrities who represent a certain demographic or a particular political point of view so to appeal to a wide range of fans. Case in point: Rosie O’Donnell. She’s advertised to us an overweight, outspoken lesbian – surely those three aspects alone qualify her to be a genuine left-wing celeb? If her outward appearance and sexual orientation doesn’t sway you, then there’s of course the fact that she counts Donald Trump as one of her “enemies”, she’s also a lesbian rights activist, oh and there was also the highly publicised occasion that Rosie called the U.S. Army “terrorists” whilst she worked on The View – surely that adds to her left-wing credibility?

Now if you’re dumb enough to fall for these contrivances, then you’re not only very blinkered, you also have a very short memory. Just because Rosie prats about on social media and television pretending to be a liberal, it doesn’t make her one. You have to look at her past and you have to take into account her opinion when it matters – not years after the fact when it becomes safe and even popular to have that said opinion. O’Donnell may have said this in 2007…

“655,000 Iraqi civilians dead. Who are the terrorists? …if you were in Iraq and another country, the United States, the richest in the world, invaded your country and killed 655,000 of your citizens, what would you call us?”

…but what did she think back in 2001 or 2002? You might be surprised by her statements.

Rosie O’Donnell has said some horrid shit in the past, things that sound more like a right-wing, closed-minded bigot than a left-wing television personality. So I ask you, which liberal thinks almost all the people in a certain country are terrorists? Which liberal calls for all gun owners to be jailed? And which self-respecting liberal goes on the Bill O’Reilly show, not to stand up to him and to oppose the horridly right-wing “news” network that he works for, but to agree to almost everything he says? To go on Fox News and kiss O’Reilly’s wrinkly old arse isn’t the actions of a left-wing person to me, and if you watch or read her interview you might think twice about supporting this charlatan.

The video that documented this meeting of morons now seems to have conveniently disappeared, but FoxNews.com does keep a transcript of the 2002 interview on their site. If you can’t be arsed to read this shite, I’ll go though the main points with you…

One of Bill O’Reilly‘s first bigoted statements is when he says that Ellen DeGeneres is too gay – he refers to her “in-your-face- gayness” and says it’s “offensive”. So as a lesbian did she defend her fellow sapphic-celeb? No, she just said “I understand your opinion” followed by her repeating “I understand” a few more times. O’Reilly then went further, saying “So you understand the in-your-face… Anne Heche, Ellen DeGeneres?” to which O’Donnell replied “Yes I understand it… offensive to me as well”. What a ballsy, left-wing, lesbian Rosie is.

She then went on to defend her comments about guns after the Columbine school shooting. Her amazing defence was that she spoke a day after the event, which is a great excuse used by many fake pricks. She then goes on to say that when she said “anyone who owns a gun should go to jail” this was perhaps “a little outlandish”. Surely a genuine left-wing person wouldn’t ever act so idiotically? So all gun owners should be arrested just because a couple of kids allegedly killed thirteen people at their school? How liberal and free.

Rosie then pisses and moans a bit, telling O’Reilly that she’s suffered from depression (like that’s an excuse) and that then leads to September 11th. On the topic of 9/11, O’Donnell says:

“Everything changed for me that day… My entire worldview changed. If you would have told me September 9 that I would have been at the world series game filming George Bush throwing out the first pitch with my 6-year-old son crying, I never would have believed you, but I was. Because my whole worldview changed”

She then brings up the odiously right-wing New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani:

“…And Giuliani, you know what? Like most of the people before September 11, at least the Democrats in New York thought he was a fascist. And that’s a very strong word. After the 11th, needless to say, in cheers on my show, I said I have found a tremendous solace and strength in him and his leadership, and I have looked to him as a child would a father and it astounded me. Also I will say, Bill, that President Clinton and the saga that he went through with Monica Lewinsky profoundly changed my die hard Democratic stance in my own mind”

She then adds that she has “turned against both Clintons, Hillary and Bill” and this brilliantly impartial interview ends with Rosie saying “I don’t know anything about Afghanistan. I know it’s a place where terrorists are, and we have to go in there and our men and women should come home. That’s all I know. I’m speaking as a mother. Every time you’ve ever heard me speak about anything, politically, it’s as a mother”

This televisual crapfest was billed as “Rosie O’Donnell Vs. Bill O’Reilly” but it came off more as a love-fest between two like-minded, white, Irish Americans, talking and confirming each other’s bullshit whilst trying to con the audience. These two twats were purporting to be the face of the left and the right in a “no spin” show on a “fair and balanced” news channel. What utter shite. If they both hated overtly-gay people, both loved Rudy Giuliani, and both had the same opinion regarding the War On Terror, then how the flying fuck-fork is Rosie O’Donnell a left-wing celebrity?

Most people, famous and non-famous seem to have forgotten about O’Donnell’s past exploits. The only person to call out this fake-left moron was the stand-up comedian Bill Bailey who I recall on his stand-up show Part Troll made the following observation:

“There’s this one celebrity, Rosie O’Donnell, a talk show host, and she said this… ‘I don’t know anything about Afghanistan, but I know it’s full of terrorists, speaking as a mother.’ So what is this ‘speaking as a mother’ then? Is that a euphemism for ‘talking out of my arse’? …As a rational human being, Al-Qaeda are a loose association of psychopathic zealots who could be rounded up with a sustained police investigation. But speaking as a parent, they’re all eight foot tall, they’ve got lasers under their moustaches, a huge eye in their foreheads and the only way to kill them is to nuke every country that hasn’t sent us a Christmas card in the the last 20 years… ‘Speaking as a mother’”

It’s strange that pretty much everybody has forgotten about Rosie O’Donnell’s skewed, reactionary, and anti-liberal sentiments in the past, and they instead hold her as some kind of voice for all lefties; from homosexuals to anybody who’s anti-war. Oh look, she’s feuded with Donald Trump, she now supports Hillary Clinton, and she’s against the Iraq war. So please forget that she “understands” right-wing pricks being offended by “in-your-face” gays, forget that she looks up to Rudy Giuliani, forget that she loves George Bush, forget that she keeps flip-flopping between being against the Clintons and then for Hillary, forget that she wanted to imprison every gun-owner in America, definitely forget that she thought Afghanistan was filled with terrorists, and oh yes, please also forget the time she said “ching-chong, ching-chong” on The View when referring to Chinese news reports. She’s definitely a liberal.

If having such idiotically extreme points of view qualifies you to be a liberal, then I as a lefty am going to burn my copies of Another Stakeout and A League Of Their Own as a reaction to her interview. Being a liberal however, means I don’t have a reactionary response to current events, it means I don’t go and burn pieces of art, it means I don’t own any Rosie O’Donnell DVDs in the first place, and it also means I despise fakes like her who sully a demographic that I represent. Fuck her, fuck Bill O’Relly, fuck Fox News, fuck both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, fuck George Bush, fuck Rudy Giuliani, fuck the War On Terror, and fuck gun control. Now that’s a liberal point of view, and I have not and will not change it just because the masses or the media tells me to. That’s the difference between a genuine liberal and a fake one like Ms. O’Donnell.

My O’My.

  1. Speaking of fake liberals, throughout the US election, I saw worrying amounts of anti-Russian sentiment being spewed out by supposedly liberals, like Trump being cosy with Putin, Russia manipulating the election, or Russia being a threat to democracy, which is straight bullshit. There has not been this much Anti-Russian propaganda since the Cold War. I have seen this happen in the last years. Remember the MH17 crash in 2014? The blame was put on Russia. A few days after the crash, John Kerry went on CNN and claimed that they had “footage” of Russian Separatists shooting the air plane. Anti Russian bigotry has become a huge problem among the Left. Aside from calling anyone who disagrees ‘racist’ or ‘sexist’, the Left seems to have fallen into McCarthyism and Red-Baiting. Liberalism should be about tolerance and open-mindedness. Do people really believe Russia will drop a nuclear bomb on USA or invade the West?

    • Speaking of anti-Russian bigotry, check this video from Keith Olbermann. It’s from his show, “The Resistance”. It is downright tasteless. If there ever was an obvious example of xenophobia and warmongering, this is it. When I first saw it, I thought it was some parody. But this is real! Olbermann starts out by saying “We’re at war with Russia! Or perhaps more correctly, we lost a war with Russia without a battle!”. Is this guy for real? He makes Alex Jones look sane in comparison.

    • People like this just go to show that most “left-wing” broadcasters and celebrities are fake – pretty much everybody is centre-right or right-wing. There seems to be no place in mainstream entertainment for genuine liberal opinions.

    • I agree, she isn’t funny at all. I’ve only ever watched ‘Rosie O’Donnell: A Heartfelt Standup’ and it was basically her yelling “Everything changed on 9/11, I’m a mother, my son’s in the military, remember 9/11? I’m a mother, did I mention I’m a mother who went through the tribulations of 9/11?”. Utter shite.
